Wister A Team - Rules and Requirements

At Wister, students know about the 3 A's - attendance, attitude, and academics.  The Wister A-Team program allows you to receive rewards for being a good student and having excellent behavior at school.  At the start of each school year, every student is part of our A Team.  Students will remain on the A Team if they meet the following expectations -

ATTENDANCE

  • Students must be present and on time every day, wearing your uniform
  • Students can not have more than 3 unexcused absences during each marking period

ATTITUDE

  • Students must show respect for yourself, others, and your environment
  • Students must have a behavior grade of 2 or better in all subjects

ACADEMICS

  • Students must be proficient or better in all academic areas.
  • Students must have a C (or 2 for the lower grades) or better to participate in an extr-curricular activities

What's in it for the students?

Students who belong to our A TEAM will enjoy benefits such as skating trips, trips to the movie theater, and the spectacular Neshaminy hore Part trip at the end of the year!  The A TEAM is the place to be... make sure you are on it.

School Rules and Policies for Students

Be Responsible

  • Students should attend school everyday and be on time.  When a student is absent, he or she must come back to school with a note from home.  Notes can not excuse a lateness.
  • Students must come prepared to learn.  They should have all of their supplies and be well rested.
  • Students must come to school dressed in a school uniform.  The uniform colors are yellow and blue.  Yellow shirts or tops should be worn with navy blue bottoms.

Be Respectful

  • Students are expected to follow directions the first time they are given.
  • Students are to remain in their assigned seats during a class period.
  • Students should speak in a polite manner at all times to staff and students, and treat others the way they would want to be treated.
  • Students should be respectful of their school building by picking up after themselves and by keeping the school grounds clean and free of litter.

Be Safe

  • Students are expected to keep all hands and feet to themselves.
  • Students are to walk at all times inside the building - never run.
  • If a student has a problem with another student, he or she is expected to let a teacher or other staff member know as soon as possible.  Fighting of any kind is not tolerated and could result in both parties being suspended from school.
  • Be safe inside the school building, while at recess, and while using any gym equipment.

Promotion Requirements

The Promotion and Graduation Policy is aligned with and is supported by the School Reform Commission’s Declaration of Education of 2004, which identifies the following Beliefs and Visions:

  1. We believe all children can learn at high levels.
  2. We believe all children can reach their learning potential and that the achievement gap can be eliminated.
  3. We believe schools have an enormous impact on children’s lives.
  4. We believe the School District of Philadelphia can become a high performing organization.
  5. We believe that all children should be educated in a safe and orderly environment.
