Who is John Wister?
Our school gets its name from John Wister, who built a family home in Germantown in 1744..
The residence sits at 5267 Germantown Avenue, and is known as Grumblethorpe. The home now functions as a historic landmark and museum, having been restored and refurnished in the tradition of its original time period.
Wister students help to maintain its gardens and participate in many educational activities in the house or on its grounds.
