In addition they will follow the students throughout their academic career here in the Philadelphia School District helping and providing resources to ensure they succeed in their studies. Thanks for the support! *********************************************** Alexander Wilson School is the proud recipient of a VH1 Save the Music Grant. This grant will provide $30,000 in new string instruments to our school. “The VH1 Save the Music Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music in public schools and in raising awareness about the importance of music as part of each child’s complete education.” ************************************************ Dancing classrooms is back at Wilson! We are excited to have this great experience for our students for the 2nd year in a row. We won bronze in the competition last year but going for the Gold this time. Stay tuned! ************************************************ Parents, Back to School Night is on September 20th, 2012! The event will start with a dinner for our families at 4:30pm. There will be raffles for great prizes and the event will end at 7:00pm. Please come and find out all the wonderful things that are going on at Wilson this school year. Go Wilson! ************************************************ On Thursday April 26th Alexander Wilson held it's annual Enviromental Fair to celebrate science. It was supported by the University of Penn students and Mrs. Bergey. There were bugs, snakes and lessons taught on a range of science topics. Wilson students learned and aided in teaching as well.It was a great day! Thanks to all who were involved. Check out the pics on our event photo page! ************************************************ Alexander Wilson was involved in Dancing Classrooms for the first time! Our 5th grade was involved and their performance was wonderful. Congratulations to our semi-finalists who earned a bronze medal in the competion. Go Wilson! ************************************************ Guess what?? Yes Alexander Wilson has made AYP for a fourth straight year! We could not do it without the support of the community! Congratulations to you as well! Let's do it again! Three in a row!!! That's right Alexander Wilson has hit AYP again in 2010 making it three straight years! Congratulations once again to all who help our students continue to grow!! ************************************************* Congratulations to Alexander Wilson School for making AYP again in 2009! Thanks to all staff and parents who help keep or students achieving at high levels! ************************************************* Congratulations to Wilson School in getting the Hamels Foundation grant to build a new playground for the students! The Hamels Foundation which was co-founded by Philadelphia Phillies star pitcher Cole Hamels and his wife Heidi Hamels presented a check to Principal Sonya Harrison in the amount of 50,000 dollars in a star studded ceremony was held at the school on June 9th, 2010. Among the attendees were Mr. and Mrs. Hamels, Senator Anthony Williams and his wife, Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell, Regional Superintendent LaVerne Wiley, and many more. A huge thank you to the Hamels for choosing Alexander Wilson School!
