Our Vision

The vision of University City High School is to provide a safe, secure and disciplined environment so that every child learns to his/her fullest potential. This process will be continuous utilizing results from classroom, benchmark assessments, Terra Nova and PSSA assessments where possible.  This vision will be sustained and quality professional practices will be modified and monitored for all educators involved, to provide the best education possible for every student in University City High School.  This vision is clear and will be published for all stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, administrators and the community as a whole.

Our Mission

The mission of University City High School is to provide a high quality education that prepares, ensures, and empowers all students to achieve their full intellectual and social potential in order to become lifelong learners and productive members of society.  This is the same mission as that of the School District of Philadelphia and the Restructured Region.

Points of Pride

  • Advanced Placement  (AP) students completed a total of 72 AP exams for the 2007-2008 school year; Dr. Janowitz administered 10 AP exams; thanks to the AP teachers! 
  • University City High School selected for the PA Classrooms for the Future grant program on 5/8/08: includes an upgrade of approx. four classrooms with new technology, two classroom sets of laptop computers, and required teacher training
