School Hours

School starts promptly at 8:30am when teachers greet the students in the yard.  Your child should be in line when the bell rings at 8:30am.   Please do not send your child to school before 8:00am.   Breakfast is served in the cafeteria from 8:00-8:15.  All children are entitled to a free breakfast and are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. 

No parent is permitted to walk a child to a classroom.  If your child is late, please bring the child to the front desk. Your child will need to fill out a late slip.  This lateness will be noted on your child's report card.  You must enter the school through the main entrance.  Someone will escort your child to the classroom.  

School is dismissed at 3:09 pm.  We encourage you to schedule doctor's appointments for after 3:09 pm.  Should you need to pick up your child prior to regular dismissal, please do so prior to 2:30pm.

Electronic Devices

Students are NOT permitted to have cell phones, IPods, PSP’s, DSI’s, etc during the school day.  If it is seen by a school employee, it will be confiscated.  

 

First time: Student can have it at dismissal.

 

Second time: Legal guardian must come for it.

 

Third time: The item is returned last day of school.

Uniform Policy

Uniforms must be worn EVERYDAY!  The Board of Education has adopted a mandatory school uniform policy for all students. Starting the first day of school in September, Thurgood Marshall students are required to wear the following:

GIRLS : Girls will wear either a long or short sleeved blue golf shirt that has a collar with either blue pants, skirt, skort, or jumper. Skirts, skorts, and jumpers must be no shorter than three inches above the knee.

BOYS : Boys will wear blue pants with either a long or short sleeved light blue golf shirt which has a collar.

 

When the weather becomes colder, students may wear a BLUE sweatshirt, sweater, or inside jacket.  Students may also wear a blue turtleneck.

  • All students are expected to adhere to this uniform policy. Failure to wear the school uniform will result in appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
  • NOT PERMITTED
    • Over-sized clothing
    • Hoodies 
    • Undergarments should not be visible
    • Short shorts or short skirts
    • Hats, scarves, and headbands, except for religious reasons.
    • Expensive jewelry
    • Sandals, flip flops, heelies or high heels
  • Shoes must be sturdy such as sneakers with ties or shoes with buckles. Uniform shirts and gym uniforms are available for sale at our school.
