Dear Southwark Family,
Welcome back to the 2012-2013 academic school year at Southwark Elementary School. It is our mission to provide all students with educational programs that are academically challenging and geared toward the 21st Century learning where all students can reach their maximum potential in a safe and positive school environment.
At Southwark, we believe that literacy for the future means literacy in multiple technologies. Up-to-date Macintosh OS X computers are present in every classroom. Teachers are integrating technology into classroom teaching and learning. Examples of our computer based resources include Apangea Learning, Study Island and First in Math. Our 6th, 7th and 8th grade classrooms benefit from laptop carts and computerized interactive white boards.
Southwark School's mission statement includes the belief that it takes the concentrated effort of every person in our "village" to help children develop the skills needed for college and the workforce, to become future decision makers, to be problem solvers, to be creative thinkers, and to become lifelong learners.
The school is providing you with a handbook to help facilitate communication between the school and home. This handbook can be used as a reference. Please read it carefully and refer to it frequently.
