Message from the Principal
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
Welcome! It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the principal of Sheridan West Academy Middle School. I am extremely excited to be a member of our educational community. I was born and raised in Philadelphia. I "grew-up" in the Boys & Girls Club, a place I considered my second home. I have held a variety of positions within the School District of Philadelphia including: Teacher, Teacher Leader, Mentor Teacher, Model Classroom Teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal.
The staff and I are eager to continue the impressive academic progress that has been the hallmark of the Sheridan West Community. It is with great pride that we carry the torch forward, striving for even greater gains. Our plan is to continue the great traditions and practices that are the foundation of Sheridan West Academy Middle School. Each member of our staff brings with them unique perspectives and talents to enhance the learning experience. We all are here for the betterment of our students. To that end, it is Children First at Sheridan West Academy Middle School.
I have an "open door" policy and look forward to meeting with the members of the Sheridan West Academy family. I believe in transparency. It is the building block for positive relationships between the school, families, and the community. I am eager to earn your trust and forge the relationships necessary to do the hard work of educating our children and instilling in them the desire to achieve. Critical decisions on the best course of action for our children will need to be made. "Empowering Students on Our Quest to Success" is at the heart of the process. Our expectation at Sheridan West Academy Middle School is that all students will acquire the academic and personal skills needed to succeed in their education, a global society, and the pursuit of their dreams. We invite families to become actively involved in our school because every parent/guardian has something to contribute. You know your children best. Parents/guardians may be asked at times to complete a survey, serve on a committee, or attend an assembly program. We hope you will frequently commit.
Regular and open communication is important to us. Please contact us immediately whenever you have a question or concern.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lisa M. Mesi
