Our Student PledgeAs a Student:
Graduation and Promotion RequirementsIf your child does not meet grade level goals in reading and or math, he/she may not be promoted at the end of the school year and may be assigned to the summer school program. Below are the grade level goals for promotion. Fourth GradeStudents must have a passing grade in Reading of (A, B, C or D) in Math of (A, B, C or D) and Science of (A, B, C or D).
Third GradeStudents must have a reading level of N or above, a math level of Basic, Proficient or Advanced (2,3 or 4), and a science level of Basic, Proficient or Advanced (2,3, or 4), AND participate successfully in a group Multidisciplinary or Service Learning Project. Second GradeStudents must have a reading level of L or above, a math level of Basic, Proficient or Advanced (2,3 or 4) and a science level of Basic, Proficient or Advanced (2,3 or 4). First GradeStudents must have a reading level of G or above and a math level of Basic, Proficient or Advanced (2,3 or 4).

Parental Permission for a Trip Parental Permission for a Photo or Electronic Image Permission for Examination and Tests by a Physician or Nurse Consent for Release of Information Extracurricular ActivitiesPatterson offers a variety of extra curricular activities for students. Academic Activities Patterson/Heinz Junior Birders Ongoing - Fourth grade students make field trips on weekly bases to John Heinz Wildlife Refuge to monitor the bird population. The students learn about the five habitats of the refuge as well as learning to become amateur naturalists. this program is partnered with the refuge and The Birding Club of Delaware County. Click here to view September to December bird census Physical Education Activities Nature of Learning Program Ongoing - Kindergarten through fourth grade classes combined environmental literature with field trips to Heinz refuge so that hands on learning aids in meeting the standardized curriculum of the School District of Philadelphia. Along with gym class students are encouraged to participate in various physical education activities.
They include:
Field Day - This is an event in spring where all students can get involved in fun games outside in the Patterson playground. These games promote physical activity and team work.
Jump Rope for Heart - Jumping rope to promote a healthy heart and knowledge of heart disese through the American Heart Association.
Bike Club - Designed to explore biking and physical fitness.
Ed Snider Youth hockey Foundation - This activity serves Patterson studetns as well as children in the Greater Philadelphia Region by providing a program that incorporates both on-ice and off-ice activities. The program is provided, at no cost, to boys and girls, ages 7-12, as part of the physical educational curriculum. The Foundation provides the equipment, ice time and experienced coaching.
Penn Relays - This is a Philadelphia tradition that the studetns learn about and can actually attend on a field trip, through the Patterson physical education curriculum.
The Governor's Fitness Challenege - A state wide program to promote fitness and nutrition for grade K-8.
Clubs There are various clubs that students at Patterson can take advantage of. The clubs typically meet after school for one hour and are instructed by Patterson staff. These clubs are a time for students as well as teachers to have fun and learn.
