Message from the Principal, Cheryl Hackett

Welcome to the S. Weir Mitchell Elementary School website.  The purposeof this site is to keep you informed of the wonderful things going on at Mitchel, as well as keep you updated on school and district policies.

Our academic assembly is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18th.  We will be reqarding our students for their great accomplishments during this second marking period.  The K-2 assembly will start at 9:00.  3rd & 4th will start at 10:30, and 5th & 6th starting at 11:15.

February is the month set aside to spotlight the contributions that African Americans have made to our city, state, nation, and the world.  Our Black History Program will be held on Friday, February 28th.  The K and 1st grade program will be from 9:15-10:00.  2nd and 3rd will be from 10:00 - 11:00, and 4th - 6th from 1:40 - 2:45.  Come out and see what our students have been learning.

Finally, PSSA testing begins on March 18th.  You can help your child be successful by:

  • Making sure they get a good night sleep, not just during this time but every night.
  • Getting them to school on time everyday.  The habits we instill in them now will carry on through their lifetime.
  • Making sure they start everyday off with a well balanced meal. This will help keep them alert.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Hackett

Principal
