Celebration Book Club

Honor a Graduate.
Remember a Loved One.

Masterman family, friends and staff can remember and honor events and people by donating books to the school library.  A bookplate in the front of the book recalls your event or loved one, as well as your own name.

Fill out the Celebration Book Club form and send it to school with your child or through the mail.

Ink Drinkers

Mrs. Jennings, retired library instructional media assistant (LIMA), formed the Ink Drinkers in the aftermath of the first Harry Potter book. The Ink Drinkers consists of students from grades 5 to 11 who are interested in reading and discussing books. Meeting at lunch time each Tuesday, the group explores such titles as Where the Red Fern Grows to The Book Thief.  Mrs. Jennings nurtures this book community through activities as special lunches, holiday programs, and movie trips, culminating with The Book Talk Breakfast at year’s end. To join the Ink Drinkers, students need to sign up and come with their lunches to the library on Tuesdays each week.

The Cocoa Bar /Masterman Teen Advisory Board

Masterman School Library’s Teen Advisory Board is dubbed The Cocoa Bar. Founded in 2006, the group reads and reviews new library materials, provides a sounding board for the librarian in formulating library procedures, and assists in promoting reading and library use among high schoolers. The Cocoa Bar meets as a Mentally Gifted course once a week.

Some of the events The Cocoa Bar has hosted in the library are the following:

  • Poetry Slam
  • Books and Cooks
  • Student Film Festival
  • Best of the Best
