Policies

Lingelbach's Uniform Policy

The School District of Philadelphia has instituted a School Uniform Policy for all students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.  Students are required to be dressed in uniforms, unless otherwise instructed.

Lingelbach School Uniform for BOTH boys and girls:
  • Khaki pants
  • Blue shirts
  • Girls may also wear khaki skirts or jumpers
  • All shirts must have a collar

Lingelbach Gym Uniform:

  • Gray sweatpants or shorts and a gray shirt
  • Sneakers and a gym uniform MUST be worn on gym days or the students will not be able to participate (this will affect the student’s gym grade).
  • Students should come to school dressed in their gym uniform since they will not be allowed to change at school.

Attendance and Punctuality

The policy of the School District requires that school-aged students enrolled in the schools of this District to attend school regularly, on time, and for the whole school day in accordance with the laws of the State of Pennsylvania.

The educational program offered by this District is based upon the presence of the student and requires continuity of instruction and classroom participation.

A note signed by a parent/caregiver must be brought to school after each absence, indicating the dates and reasons for the absence.  Absences will be coded "unexcused" if a note is not provided by the parent or caregiver.

When a pupil is absent for three days due to illness, a written doctor's note documenting the medical necessity for the absence must be brought to school unless the principal has verified the legitimacy of the absence through other means.  When possible, a parent is to notify the school if a pupil is to be absent for several days.

Every effort should be made to make-up work missed as a result of illness or other unexcused absence.
Work missed because of absence can lower academic marks.  Students are responsible for making up work missed as a result of suspension or other disciplinary action.

Unexcused lateness which causes a student to miss all or a substantial part of the day's instructional time may be coded as an unexcused absence.

School Opening Procedures

The school day begins at 8:30 AM for all students.  Students line up at 8:20 AM and are escorted into the building by their teachers at 8:30 AM.  Students are considered late if they arrive after 8:45 a.m. and should report to the desk outside the main office for a late slip.  Please call the school to inform us about absences lasting three or more days.

Breakfast

Report to the lunchroom.  All students will be admitted through the main entrance at 8:00 AM.

The breakfast program runs daily from 8:00 AM to 8:20 AM.

Students should arrive in time to have breakfast and line up in time for the second bell at 8:21 AM.

Dismissal Procedures

At the close of the school day, children will be escorted by their teacher to school yard where they will be dismissed.  Students who are responsible for picking up and escorting siblings home should arrange a place to meet in the schoolyard.  Kindergarten students will be dismissed from their classrooms.

Computing and Internet Acceptable Use Policy

Access Rights and Privileges

The School District of Philadelphia provides its students ("users") with access to computing equipment, systems and local network functions such as the Internet.  This access has a limited education purpose for students.  It is highly recommend that parents/caregivers review with their children the District's AUP in its entirety:
