Demerits
Demerit System
Leeds Middle School will be using a demerit system as part of our discipline program. Demerits may be issued as a consequence for student infractions of the Code of Student Conduct. The demerit form has been created in triplicate form - one copy for the parent, one copy for the office, and one copy for the teacher.
- Accumulation of Five (5) demerits will result in one day of In School Suspension (ISS)
- Accumulation of Ten (10) demerits will result in one day of In-School Suspension (ISS).
- Accumulation of Fifteen (15) demerits will result in SMART Cohort, suspension of school activities until SMART is completed, and a Parent Conference - CSA-Tier II.
- Accumulation of Twenty (20) demerits will result in two one-hour after-school detentions.
- Accumulation of Twenty-five (25) demerits will result in two days of In-School Suspension (ISS).
- Accumulation of Thirty (30) demerits will result in one day of Out-of-School Suspension (OSS).
- Accumulation of Thirty-five (35) demerits will result in SMART Cohort and suspension of school activities until SMART is completed.
- Accumulation of Forty (40) demerits will result in three days of In-School Suspension (ISS).
- Accumulation of Forty-five (45) demerits will result in two days of Out-of-School Suspension (OSS), a 30-60 day CSAP Review and the loss of the eighth grade June Move-Up Ceremony -(for any eighth grade student).
The accumulation of Fifteen (15) demerits throughout the months of September to November or December to February or March to June will result in the loss of all trip privileges during that period.
Detentions
Detentions are permitted before school, after school, during lunch periods, or Saturday mornings. Our school's detention notice has been created in triplicate form - one copy for the parent, one copy for the office, and one copy for the teacher.
- Failure to attend detentions will lead to further disciplinary actions
