Hello Lawton Families!

      Please remember to read the monthly school calendar for information on events, 1/2 days and school closings. 


School Year 2014-2015

Kindergarten Registration for next September is currently taking place, please come by the office to pick up your registration packet.


Lawton will hold an informational meeting for all Incoming 2015-2016 Kindergarten Parents on Wednesday, May 13th at 9:30am. The Kindergarten teachers will provide information and answer questions about what to expect when the children come to school in September. Parents/Guardians are invited to take the District-wide Parent survey. The survey is available online until June 19th. Information gathered from the survey helps Lawton improve our interaction with our students, families, and community members. The survey can be found at www.philasd.org/parentsurvey. You will need your child's Student ID# found on the report card.


Snacks will begin again on Tuesdays. Snacks cost 50¢ and money goes toward needed school supplies and incentives.

Pretzels orders will also begin again on Thursdays. Cost 50¢ each. 

Wednesday, May 6th will be a 12:09 dismissal.

Tuesday, May 19th School Closed for Staff Professional Development Day.

Monday, May 25th School Closed for Memorial Day. 

Home & School will sell artifical roses for $2.00 each during the week of May 4th for Mother's Day.

Safety of Our Students is a Priority

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on school grounds. Many children are allergic or afraid of dogs as well as other animals. Please do not bring any animals into the school yard.

Also bicycles, skooters, and skateboards are a danger with some many children dismissing at one time. Please refrain from bring these items when picking up your child from school. 

Photo ID Required-Please be sure that you have a photo ID available whenever you pick up your child from school.You will be asked to show it at early dismissal, late pick up, or if a Kindergarten teacher is absent.


Snowy Weather

In the event of an emergency school closing, please tune to your local news, visit the School District's website at www.philasd.org or call the District's Parent Hotline at 215-400-INFO(4636). If there is a 2 hour delay, students should report to school at 10:30am.   Bus Information here

and Labels for Education.  

Please clip, save, and bring to school the box top coupon or the UPC code/beverage cap for the Labels for Education products.  Each classroom has a collection bag.

If you shop at Acme, ShopRite, Genuardi's, or Food Lion you can register your for Store Bonus Reward card on the eLabels  website eLabelsForEducation.com. and any product points will be automatically added to Lawton's account whenever you swipe your card.




Points of Pride

  • Eagles Book Mobile and Eagles Storybook Man visited Lawton School to share his love of reading with our students.
  • Maryem Bouatlaoui won Best Emblem in the National Constituting Contest 2013.
  • 1st Place 5th Grade Team--Philadelphia Reading Olympics in 2013.
  • Classrooms have interactive white board.
  • Lawton School added 23 classrooms in a beautiful state of the art addition in September 2008.
  • The addition included a Science lab, Art lab, and Computer lab.
  • Our Office entrance showcases our school's history via our 100th Anniversary Mural created in partnership with Network Arts Program.
  • We have enjoyed visits from artists, dancers, and Jazz musicians through our participation in Arts in Education.
