 Welcome to the Henry W. Lawton Elementary School website!

Hello Lawton Families!

Reminders: Changes to the School Calendar

School will be closed on Monday, April 14th and Friday, April 18th.

School will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, April 15th thru 17th in order to make up snow days. 

Tuesday, April 22nd will be a 12:09 dismissal. This is a last minute change by the School District and was not on our April calendar. 

Philadelphia Soul Fundraiser The last day to order tickets is Thursday, April 17th. Lawton will offer reduced ticket price to watch the Philadelphia Soul on Saturday, April 17th at 4:00PM at the Wells Fargo Center. To see the flyer and order form click here

Spring Pictures: Lifetouch will be here on Friday, April 25th. Forms have been sent home. 

Congratulations to our lucky basket winners! Winners were called on Monday to pick up their prize basket. Thank you to everyone who participated in this fundraiser.

Donuts will Dad has been postponed due to the impending inclement weather on Tuesday, December 10th. We will notify Dads of the new date.


Student Transfer Application Process

The District offers parents and students the opportunity to apply for admission to schools outside of the neighborhood.
Ms Pitt is meeting with all of the 5th grade students this week and giving them the application information.

Eagles Book Mobile Visits Lawton

5 of Lawton's classes had a visit today, Oct. 15th, from Storybook Man. He shared some of his favorite stories with our students. Thank you Eagles Organization!

We will have a Taffy Sale fundraisier on Wednesday, Oct 16th & Thursday, Oct 17th. Cost is 50¢ each. Money will go toward purchasing needed supplies.

Pretzel Sales have begun. Children order pretzels on Thursdays at 50¢ each and have them delivered to them on Fridays.

Back to School Night took place on Wednesday, October 2, 2013. It was wonderful to see so many parents/guardians who made the time to meet with us. We look forward to seeing all of you around school


Picture Day was on Monday October 1, 2013. Pictures are due back to us within 2-3 weeks. They will be sent home as soon as they arrive.

Congratulations are in Order!

A Special congratulations to Maryem Bouatlaoui who won the "We the People" Contest from Constituting America. This year's theme was "Strength of the US Constitution in America". Her entry won, Best Emblem. Maryem's illustration showed Independence Hall where the Constitution was written and she used the Eagle, our Nation's bird symbol who reached in when the Constitution was ready so that the Eagle could deliver the news all over the land. It is on display in our foyer.

Congratulations to our Reading Olympics team!--Seven fifth graders under the sponsorship of Ms Peragallo competed at Holy Family University in the Philadelphia Reading Olympics on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 and won 1st Place.We are so very proud of your accomplishments.

Photo ID Required-Please be sure that you have a photo ID available whenever you pick up your child from school.You will be asked to show it at early dismissal, late pick up, or if a Kindergarten teacher is absent.

 Ms. Imes' Thoughts

We are very proud of our accomplishments, including the creation of this site, and hope to share our news, our celebrations, and our updates with you. We also hope to use this site to ask for help when we need it. Our staff and students are grateful for all you do to be sure your children are ready for school. Your involvement in their education may be the single most important factor in school success.

Points of Pride

  • Eagles Book Mobile and Eagles Storybook Man visited Lawton School to share his love of reading with our students.
  • Maryem Bouatlaoui won Best Emblem in the National Constituting Contest 2013.
  • 1st Place 5th Grade Team--Philadelphia Reading Olympics in 2013.
  • Classrooms have interactive white board.
  • Lawton School added 23 classrooms in a beautiful state of the art addition in September 2008.
  • The addition included a Science lab, Art lab, and Computer lab.
  • Our Office entrance showcases our school's history via our 100th Anniversary Mural created in partnership with Network Arts Program.
  • We have enjoyed visits from artists, dancers, and Jazz musicians through our participation in Arts in Education.
