May Information:

Kindergarten Open House-Wednesday, May 10th at 9:30am for incoming students and their parents. You will have a chance to ask questions and get important Kindergarten information. 

12:09 Dismissal-- Friday, May 26th.

School Closed--Monday, May 29th. 

Thank you parents for making sure your child came to school on time during PSSA testing days.

Thursday, May 4th --There will be a Bully Prevention workshop in the library at 2PM for parents. All are encouraged to attend.


Parents we need you!

Please take 10 minutes to complete the annual parent survey if you have not already done so. The survey is only available online and our school's participation affects our school's rating.http://philasd.org/parentsurvey

A raffle ticket for a “Family Fun Basket” will be filled out for any student whose parent completes the survey. Please email me with your child’s name once you have completed the survey

If you do not have a computer to use at home, you are welcome to use one here at Lawton.

May will be the last month for snacks.

Kindergarten Registration has begun and continues until May. Please stop by the office for the Kindergarten packet.

Students are marked late after 8:30am.

Children are to enter through the big yard doors not the front doors. 

School Report Card from 2014-2015

Safety of Our Students is a Priority

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on school grounds. Many children are allergic or afraid of dogs as well as other animals. Please do not bring any animals into the school yard.

Also bicycles, skooters, and skateboards are a danger with some many children dismissing at one time. Please refrain from bring these items when picking up your child from school. 

Photo ID Required-Please be sure that you have a photo ID available whenever you pick up your child from school.You will be asked to show it at early dismissal, late pick up, or if a Kindergarten teacher is absent.


Snowy Weather

In the event of an emergency school closing, please tune to your local news, visit the School District's website at www.philasd.org or call the District's Parent Hotline at 215-400-INFO(4636). If there is a 2 hour delay, students should report to school at 10:30am.   Bus Information here

Points of Pride

  • Eagles Book Mobile and Eagles Storybook Man visited Lawton School to share his love of reading with our students.
  • Maryem Bouatlaoui won Best Emblem in the National Constituting Contest 2013.
  • 1st Place 5th Grade Team--Philadelphia Reading Olympics in 2013.
  • Classrooms have interactive white board.
  • Lawton School added 23 classrooms in a beautiful state of the art addition in September 2008.
  • The addition included a Science lab, Art lab, and Computer lab.
  • Our Office entrance showcases our school's history via our 100th Anniversary Mural created in partnership with Network Arts Program.
  • We have enjoyed visits from artists, dancers, and Jazz musicians through our participation in Arts in Education.
