Message from the Principal

Dear Kirkbride Family,
 
Eliza Butler Kirkbride Elementary School is a very special learning place where staff members take pride in providing students with a compassionate, nurturing, and encouraging atmosphere that is conducive to learning.

Kirkbride School is student-centered with an emphasis on teamwork, and students can be seen working together, along with teachers, in fun learning activities.

Our school community is very diverse, and Kirkbride students uphold the philosophy of respect for all cultures at all times. We believe that it is our responsibility to educate and nurture all students through the collective efforts of teachers, parents and community members. Parents are invited to join us as we help students become proficient in reading, writing and math.

Note to Parents: Effective April 9 ,2012 any students coming to school after 8:50 a.m. needs to be escorted by a parent to the main office and signed in.

 

Study Island

All students in grades 3-8 should log on to Study Island and do daily practice of the skills and strategies on the PSSA.  A Certificate of Achievement is awarded to students who are the top five players of their class and do their weekly Study Island assignments.

Ticket to Read lets your students practice important
reading skills at school, home, or the library--anywhere
they can get on the web.  Students can work independently on reading skills. Exciting texts, continuous feedback, and opportunities to earn points for prizes makes Ticket to Read your student-friendly ticket to success.

Kirkbride Selected Best Practices School-Wide for Students with Autism

Congratulations to Ms. Visco and Ms. Cahill and their support staff! The Office of Specialized Instructional Services has selected Kirkbride's Autistic Support Program as model autistic support classrooms for best practices.

Ms. Cahill's Blog informs parents and teachers about the benefits of research studies.

Kirkbride School made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the school year 2010-2011.

 

Kirkbride Recognized as a Keystone School in 2008-2009 School Year

Congratulations!  Our principal, Mrs. Magness was honored for our school's achievement by the Department of Education with a Keystone Achievement Award in recognition for the school's outstanding academic performance.

 

Mrs. Magness received a blue and gold keystone shaped placard, from Pennsylvania Deputy Secretary of Education Diane Castlebuono.
