2016-2017 School Year
Dear Kirkbride Community,
Welcome back to a new school year! It is a pleasure to see our Kirkbride students return eager and ready to learn. Thank you for your support in making sure that your children work hard and take learning seriously.
Kirkbride is an incredibly special school that focuses on rigorous instruction for all students. Our teachers and staff are talented and caring. I am thankful that you trust you child in our care each day to provide him or her with an outstanding education. It is my responsibility to ensure that all of our students are reaching their academic and social potential each day.
As the school leader, I am committed to focusing on three main priorities for the 2016-2017 year:
EMPOWERMENT: giving our students and community members the tools and skills to lead change, and working together to achieve ambitious outcomes.
EQUITY: ensuring that we create opportunities and break down barriers for all students to reach their goals and dreams, regardless of their race, ethnicity, status or culture.
EDIFICATION: providing all students with access to high quality instruction in order to develop strong academic and moral character.
As a parent or guardian supporting your child’s education, I ask that you commit to the following:
Partnering with your child’s teacher and our school to help every student achieve to the best of his/her ability
Communicating regularly with your child’s teacher and our school so we are a team.
Learning about your child’s academic goals this year to support him/her with accomplishing rigorous academic work that will push all students to be successful.
Please remember that all students should arrive by 8:20am and all students will be dismissed by 3:09pm each afternoon.
We look forward to working with you, along with the Kirkbride staff, to build on the successes of the past year and to create and even greater future for our students. My best wishes to you and your child for a rewarding and successful school year.

Compass Learning: Pathblazer
All students K-8 have access to the blended learning program "Pathblazers" with Compass Learning. This online intervention program provides students with unique learning "pathways" according to their skills. Students will use the Chromebooks in their classrooms to access this program and practice their skills in literacy and math daily.
100 Book Challenge
All Kirkbride students participate in 100 Book Challenge, and are encouraged to read for at least 30 minutes each night at home. Literacy is the foundation of a strong education and we want to ensure that all students are building their knowledge and skills through reading.
