Our Mission

The mission of Hopkinson Elementary School is to ensure that all students achieve academic success within a safe, nurturing environment of mutual respect.

We will accomplish this goal by providing consistent opportunities to learn with a maximum amount of time on task and frequent monitoring of student progress. 

Students are valued for their individuality and diverse capabilities as they are taught to face the future and to contribute to society with compassion, knowledge and vision.

School History

Hopkinson Elementary School was established in 1929.  Our school is named for Francis Hopkinson who was a distinguished lawyer, prominent citizen of Philadelphia, signer of the Declaration of Independence and the one who commisioned  Betsy Ross to sew our first flag.  Find our more about Francis Hopkinson , the man behind our school's name.
