Graduation and Promotion Requirements
Kindergarten - No retention unless it is requested by parent and is supported by school and region.
Grade 1 - Students in Grade 1 must have a reading level of G or above, and a math level of Basic, Proficient or Advanced (2,3 or 4).
Grade 2 - Students in Grade 2 must have a reading level of or above, a math level of Basic, Proficient or Advanced (2,3 or 4) and a science level of Basic, Proficient or Advance (2,3 or 4).
Grades 3-5 - Students will be promoted if the score at Basic or above on End-of Grade tests and receive passing grades on reading, math and science. Students in Grade 3 must participate successfully in a Multidisciplinary or Service Learning Project.
For students who scored below the 26th percentile on the TerraNova:
- 120 hours of additional support are required (e.g., Extended Day, Summer Program)
- Comprehensive Student Assistance Process (CSAP) must be implemented by classroom teacher.
Students who do not score at Basic or above on End-of-Grade tests or who do not receive passing grades on their report cards wil be assigned to the Summer Program.
Students assigned to the Summer Program must pass End-of-Summer Program test to be promoted.
Students With Disabilities - Students with disabilities will be promoted or will graduate if they complete satisfactorily a special education program developed by an Individual Education Plan team.

Extracurricular Activities
Various extracurricular activities are available at Hancock School. Please Note: Reading and Math are a priority. Attendance at Power Hour is required before an extra curricular activity can be considered.
Clubs meet after school and during lunch periods and include:
- Art Club
- Sign Language Club
- Health and Harmony
- Computer Club
- Knitting Club
