Description

The AIMS program is a highly structured program that stresses strong academics.  Children are admitted to the program in grade 6 and the same group attends through grade 8.  The program provides 6, 7 and 8th grade students with the basic core curriculum and is enriched, enhanced and supplemented so that it serves the needs of a more academically advanced student population.  It is designed to give students the skills needed for entrance into the special admission high schools in Philadelphia.  The rigorous academic program qualifies many of the AIMS students for advanced placement in the more challenging high school courses.  Many of the children are recruited by prestigious private schools.

Criteria for Admission

• Local percentile of 70 in reading and math on the Terra Nova, or a comparable score on another nationally recognized standardized test.
• Excellent Report Card Grades for the previous two years indicating all “A’s and B’s”
• An attendance rate of 90% or better, and a minimal number of latenesses.
• Must have excellent behavior grades
