A Message From Our Assistant Superintendent

Dear Hamilton Elementary School Community:

 

It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Leta Johnson-Garner as the newly appointed Principal of Hamilton Elementary School. Mrs. Johnson-Garner presently is serving as the Principal at Pratt Elementary School and has been serving the students and families in our District for the past sixteen years.

 

Mrs. Johnson-Garner is committed to continuing the legacy of success that has been established at Hamilton through the building of relationships and partnerships with parents, staff, students and community members.

 

Mrs. Johnson-Garner was chosen by multiple constituents inclusive of members of the Hamilton School Community. She impressed all team members with her commitment to children and to the school. She displays leadership qualities necessary to ensure that all children achieve at high levels.

 

The Hamilton Elementary School has had many accomplishments over the years. It is a school that is well-known for excellence. We anticipate that Mrs. Johnson-Garner will continue the traditions of Hamilton Elementary School and will also bring new ideas and perspectives to the school.

 

Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Johnson-Garner to the Hamilton family.

 

We also want to extend our sincere gratitude to Annette Gittelman for her commitment and service to the Hamilton Community and wish her health and happiness in her well-deserved retirement.

Registation

Who needs to register?

---

The following persons need to register to attend Philadelphia public schools:

• Philadelphia public school students who have moved to another city neighborhood over the summer
• Children new to Philadelphia
• Children transferring in from private, parochial and charter schools
• Kindergarten students who were not pre-registered in the spring.

Documents needed for registration:

---

1. Parent/Legal Guardian must provide photo Identification (examples: Current PA Drivers License/Non-Drivers License or valid Federal, State or Municipal employment identification, Passport).
2. Proof of Residency (examples: Deed, Original Rental Agreement/Lease (must be typed, signed by all parties and notarized), Current Voter Registration Card, Current Utility Bill, i.e. PECO, PGW), Foster care and DHS letters are also acceptable for registration when student is in the care of a Foster/child care agency.
3. Proof of your child’s age. Acceptable proof includes birth, baptismal or other religious certificates, a passport or immigration documents.
4. Your child’s immunization records showing proof of the following inoculations: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Poliomyelitis, Measles, Mumps, Rubella (German measles), Hepatitis B, and Varicella (chicken pox).
5. Your child’s most recent report card and any other useful information (IEP's,etc.) from the child’s former school or school district.

When and where should I register?

August 8th to August 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will resume on August 22nd through September 2nd with the same hours. For enrollment in kindergarten for 2011-2012, children must be five years old by September 1, 2011.  Registration can be completed at Andrew Hamilton School.
