Furness - A Diverse School for a Diverse WorldDear Parents and Caregivers: Welcome spring! The 2012-2013 school year has been a time of growth and many opportunities for Furness students! For those new to the Furness community, I was an assistant principal at Furness for two years prior to my appointment as principal of George W. Childs Elementary School. As the new principal of Furness High School, my commitment is to continue to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment focused on academic excellence and collaboration. We will build on a school tradition where students are excited about attending school and parents feel comfortable that their children’s individual learning needs are met. This means that high student achievement and parental involvement are our utmost priorities. We have been building and maintaining a strong partnership with students, teachers, support staff, and parents based on mutual respect. I welcome your suggestions, ideas, and support. Thank you for your willingness and effort to be an active part of the Furness High School Community. Sincerely yours, Daniel S Peou Principal
