Information & Resources

Home and School Association

The Henry R. Edmunds School enjoys the support of an active Home and School Association, which provides valuable resources to the educational program of the school through its various fundraising activities.  Parents and teachers are invited to join by paying $5.00 in annual dues.  Meetings are held monthly and all are welcome to attend.  Times and dates are determined by the results of a beginning of the year survey.  The help and support provided by parents and guardians is always needed and appreciated.  Please be an active member for your child and our students!  The Home and School Association can be reached by calling the school’s main number: 215-537-2520.

Interim Reports

An important part of any partnership is communication.  Interim Reports will be sent home with students and/or mailed to the home at the mid-point of each marking period to keep parents apprised of student progress. This helps give parents adequate notice of any potential problem as well as good news.  It also gives parents an avenue to communicate with the staff.

Early Dismissal

Parents are urged to leave their children in school all day.  Routine medical and dental appointments should be scheduled outside of school hours and on school holidays whenever possible. In cases of emergency, early dismissal requests must be written by a parent or guardian and must include:

·            Reason

·            Time of dismissal

·            Telephone number where parent can be reached

Students will give written requests to advisors.  Early dismissals will not be honored after 2:30 p.m.

A parent or other responsible adult (at least 21 years of age) must call for the child at school and must present acceptable identification before the child is released.  No child will be released during regular hours without being accompanied by a responsible adult.  Parents must sign the child out in the office.

Please discuss with your child(ren) any other arrangements prior to them coming to school in the morning.  This would help to keep phone messages to a minimum.  Students also will not be released to individuals whose names are given to us over the phone or in our School Computer Network.  This is for the safety of your child.

Emergency School Closings

School closings will be announced on KYW 1060 AM as, “All Philadelphia Public Schools.” Be sure to discuss with your child where he/she should go if this occurs during the school day.  An emergency contact must be on file for each student.
