Message from the Principal
Dear F.S. Edmonds Family,
Hello! I am Kristina Turi, and I am humbled and honored to be your new Principal. Like you, I embrace the idea that teachers and students are lifelong learners, and I am energized and deeply committed to enriching the lives of the students at F.S. Edmonds. Together, we will face the challenges of the future while we cherish and celebrate the traditions of the past. I look forward to supporting every member of our community in building F.S. Edmonds to become a wonderful and unique place to grow and learn.
As we begin our first school year together, I am moved by an African proverb; “it takes an entire village to raise a child”. Your commitment to your child’s education past and present helps our village to achieve success. You are our most important partners in ensuring a quality education for every student, and I strive to support your efforts to reach our goal of building the strongest village yet. Your input, feedback, and support will be critical to my leadership, the teaching and learning environment, and above all to the success of your child in our school.
This year, improving academic outcomes for all students will be a central focus. I will grow our best practices in instruction, provide targeted interventions, and use data to drive our instructional decisions. Our students will engage in guided reading, discovering and expressing understanding of fiction and non-fiction texts. In math, our students will inquire, discover, and apply important math concepts while continuing to build their fact fluency. Our students will be ready to apply these skills to learning experiences in any discipline, and grow ever more ready for college and career.
F.S. Edmonds also must be a nurturing, supportive, and stimulating learning environment where all students can achieve academic success and feel safe to be themselves, thereby developing academically, socially, and emotionally. I look forward to seeing our students become leaders in our school and in our community. This year we will launch our transition to becoming a PBIS school, which means we will begin to implement systems that help us focus on building positive behavior. We expect our students at F.S. Edmonds to be respectful, responsible, and safe. The faculty and I are extremely excited about this initiative at F.S. Edmonds. It is one more step in strengthening our village.
I look forward to meeting each and every student, and to building relationships with you, the families and community of F.S. Edmonds. Enjoy the rest of your summer days. This fall promises to be a great one for our community.
