Walnut Street Theatre and The Philadelphia Inquirer are excited to announce an innovative, new collaboration aimed at introducing local high school students to the art of theatre and writing. One hundred qualified students (grades 9-12), along with an adult mentor of their choice, will be invited to attend all five of the Walnut's 2010-2011 Mainstage productions. (Curtains, White Christmas, Amadeus, The 39 Steps, and Miss Saigon)

Participants will...

    * Receive two subscriptions enabling attendance at all to all five of the Walnut's 2010-2011 Mainstage productions for the student and an adult (parent, guardian, relative, teacher, mentor, clergy, etc.). Participant will receive all benefits of being a Walnut subscriber including the ability to exchange performance dates and discounts for parking and local restaurants.
    * Write a review or feature article for each show. A limited number of articles will be selected to appear on the Walnut's website and published in full-run and student editions of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
    * Attend three project-related events, including a kick-off reception and panel discussion with various writers from The Philadelphia Inquirer.


Applications must be received by July 31, 2010.

Walnut Street Theatre and The Philadelphia Inquirer will make selections based on merit of application. No prior journalism or theatre experience is required. Participants will be informed of acceptance by August 15, 2010. Names of selected participants will appear in a special feature in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
