Art Goes to School

Art Goes to School is a non-profit volunteer organization that brings art appreciation classes to elementary school children in the Delaware Valley.  Volunteers have been coming to Cook-Wissahickon for two years bringing fine art reproductions. Cook-Wissahickon students are learning about pieces from varied cultures around the world.

Network Arts

Through the Coalition of Essential Schools, Cook-Wissahickon has joined with Network Arts to create a mural to enhance the entrance to our building. Lisa Moroz of Network Arts has conducted classes with the fourth and fifth graders to design the mosaic mural and create some larger ceramic tiles depicting local flora and fauna as well as some of the historic sites in our area. Once  they were fired, these tiles then became part of the overall mural. All students and staff participated in the instillation of the mural by putting in smaller, pre-made tiles so that everyone felt part of the team. It looks beautiful and was a fun project for all involved. Please come see it.

Delphi Art Program

Cook-Wissahickon Goes to the Art Museum

Every Tuesday afternoon from 3:30 to 5:00 the students visit the galleries of The Philadelphia Museum of Art chaperoned by Ms. Becky Dondero and our art teacher Mr. McFeeley. The Fall and Spring program, open to all our students, is a total of 16 weeks in length. The students look at great art works and also get to create their own artwork within the studies on the lower floors of the museum.

At the end of the 2007/2008 school year all students participate in an art show at the school. Parents, teachers and especially Mrs. Jenkins are very proud of their young budding artists.
