Message from Principal Cruz
Welcome to the Communications Technology High School website. I would like to take a moment to summarize for you the key points I hope you will get from navigating this site. It is my sincere hope that you will understand that the goal of education at Communications Technology High School is to prepare students for post-secondary education. In that regard we are very unique and unlike every other school in the School District of Philadelphia. We are a career and technical education (vocational) high school whose mission is NOT to prepare children to move from high school to career.
In the 21st century we understand that all children will require education beyond high school in order to access today’s job market. We offer a rigorous academic environment designed to ensure that Comm Tech students are able to be competitive on college campuses all around this country (and eventually abroad). We accomplish this mission by providing a project-based learning environment centered on the communications technologies of cinematography, graphic arts, and photography.
At Comm Tech we are looking for students who are passionate about the field of communications technology and will embrace the opportunity to use the venue of communication arts to develop the academic proficiencies needed to earn a college degree.
Comm Tech offers a small, family-oriented atmosphere. We truly believe that children come first and all staff members are committed to developing the full potential of all of our students. To that end we also offer a wide range of athletic and extra-curricular opportunities. Additionally, we truly believe that effective education is a partnership and we expect all Comm Tech families and teachers to work in collaboration to support the needs of our students. For families that means a commitment to fostering open dialogue with the school and, of utmost importance, checking students’ homework each and every night.
