Message from Principal Langston
Thank you for visiting the website for Communications Technology High School, a small special admit high school in Southwest Philadelphia. Comm Tech is one of the School District of Philadelphia’s best-kept secrets. We are very proud of our staff and students. They have made tremendous strides in achievement and our school was named a 2012 Bronze Medal School in US News and World Report.
Our small population of 400 students allows staff to know students by name and actively encourage and nurture their strengths. All students are members of The Technology Student Association (TSA), which fosters personal growth, leadership, and opportunities in technology. Students apply technology concepts through co-curricular activities, competitive events and related programs. Our students have won local and state awards in TSA competitions. The motto of the TSA, “Learning to Live in a Technical World,” drives our award winning programs. State of the Art equipment and software along with creative and dedicated staff advances Comm Tech’s vision of becoming a top technology school.
This year, Comm Tech is moving from a traditional eight period day to a rolling A/B Block schedule. This means that students take four classes one day and four different classes the next day repeating the process for the entire school year. The benefits of this schedule for students includes four classes instead of seven per day on which to focus, an opportunity to earn eight credits instead of six per year, and preparation for post secondary schedules.
Comm Tech administration and staff are committed to raising student achievement and preparing them for college and career. If you need further information, please do not hesitate to call our school.
Sincerely,
Colette Langston
