Code of Student Conduct

Mandatory Dress Code

All students in the School District of Philadelphia are required to wear uniforms.  There is no exception on gym days.  Uniforms are expected during classroom excursions.  The Carnell Official Uniform consists of the following:

BOYS

Pants

  • Navy blue pants (No blue jeans)
  • Pants must be worn to the waist (with belts)
  • No shorts
Tops
  • Light blue tops (No decals, printed sayings or logos)
  • No sleeveless shirts.
  • Shirts are to be worn inside of pants.
Footwear
  • Footwear - Sneakers / Shoes
  • All shoes must be worn with socks.
  • No sandals 


GIRLS

Pants, Jumpers, Skirts

  • Navy blue pants, knee length jumpers or skirts.
  • No shorts, skorts or blue jeans.

 Tops

  • Light blue long or short sleeves tops.
  • No decals or printed sayings or logos.
  • No sleeveless shirts or bare midriff tops.
  • Shirts are to be worn inside of skirt.
  • No blue jeans are to be worn under skirts for any reason. If in the winter you believe you will be cold, buy pants for your uniform.
Footwear
  • Footwear -Sneakers or shoes
  • No open back shoes or sandals.
  • All shoes must be worn with socks.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
  • Navy blue long or short sweat pants with a white shirt, t-shirt, or sweat shirt

SHOES
  • Lace up or slip on shoes that cover the entire foot
PLEASE NOTE – Sandals and flip-flops are not to be worn to school. These shoes are unsafe going up and down the many steps in our building.

JEWELRY
  • Large hoop earrings and other large jewelry are not permitted due to safety concerns.

SHIRTS
  • Shirts that fall longer than the waist must be worn inside the pants.

Attendance

When your child is absent from school, send in written excuse for this absence within three days of your child’s return to school. If your child is absent more than 3 consecutive days, please notify the office.

Excessive absences could result in a visit from the School Community Coordinator and/or a citation to appear in Truancy Court.
