School Policies

At Bridesburg Elementary School we believe that all children have a right to learn in a safe and supported environment.  We believe that our fundamental mission is to increase student achievement and prepare our students to become productive members of society.

Kindergarten Dismissal Procedures

All kindergarten children are dismissed promptly at 3:09p.m.  Please arrange for someone to pick them up at the dismissal door by the “A” wing.  Please notify teachers of kindergarten classes in writing of the person(s) responsible for picking up your child.  Please be prompt when picking up children.  After 3:09p.m., students will be escorted to the office. 

Please refrain from parking in the teacher’s parking lot.  For safety reasons, exiting the yard to the teacher’s parking lot is not permitted.

Early Dismissal

Parents must report to the office and have proper identification (picture ID) in order for students to be dismissed early.  Parents/Guardians are requested to sign the Early Dismissal Book.  Please notify the teacher in writing of any anticipated early dismissals.

Students are expected to:

Line-up and meet their teacher promptly at 8:30a.m.  at their designated spots (room number) in the school yard.

  2. Sit quietly in assigned areas on inclement weather days.
  3. Enter through the main doors (Jenks Street) and receive a pass from office if late.
  4. Meet parent and brothers/sisters in the yard at dismissal
  5. Exit the school yard via Richmond Street gate and go directly home at dismissal.
  6. Follow all school rules and procedures.

Inclement Weather Days

On inclement weather days, students should report to the gymnasium via doors on Richmond Street (8:15a.m.) Due to limited space, parents are requested not to remain in the gymnasium at this time or designated areas for children only. Teachers will escort students to the exit doors at dismissal.  In order to provide a safe and orderly dismissal during inclement weather, parents of students in grades K-5 are requested to wait outside the exit doors.

Snow Days

In the event of excessive snow, all students in grades K-5 will be dismissed to the yard via the gymnasium doors.  Please be reminded the throwing of snow balls is forbidden on school grounds.  Discipline action will be taken if we have any violations of this rule.

Mandatory Dress Code

Please be advised that the Board of Education adopted a policy that requires all schools to implement a uniform policy.  We believe this policy will assist in creating a positive climate in which students can focus on academic achievement.

The School Uniform is as follows: 

  • (White T Shirts/Under Shirts are not permitted)
  • Tan Khaki Pants or Slacks   
  • Warm weather: Tan Khaki Shorts (knee length)
  • Tan Skirts (knee length)
  • White Collared Shirt (golf type)
  • Brown or Black Shoes (for safety and health reasons open toed shoes are not permitted)    

    On days when students are scheduled for physical education, students are:

  • permitted to wear gym attire and sneakers:
  • Black Bridesburg Sweat Pants        
  • Black Sweat Pants
  • Yellow Bridesburg “T” Shirt
  • White School Uniform Shirt
  • Black Shorts

Please note:    

  • Hats are not worn in the building. 
  • Students are not permitted to wear “Heelies".    
  • Hats worn in the school building will be confiscated and returned to the parent.
  • Any hairdo or adornment that causes a distraction is prohibited.  This includes unnatural hair colors and styles.  Large earrings that dangle can become dangerous when playing during recess or participating in physical education classes and are not permitted. 
  • Students are not permitted to bring purses/handbags to school.
Students who fail to dress as required by the school uniform policy may be subject to corrective measures.  Parents will be contacted by phone.  If the parent is not reachable or unable to respond within two hours of the school day, the student will be issued a conforming top from the school’s uniform bank with directions to return it clean the next school day.
 

UNIFORMS MUST BE WORN ON ALL CLASS TRIPS
