Information & Resources2010-2011 School YearDear Parents, ParkingPlease refrain from parking on sidewalks or in designated area for the school bus and in staff parking lot. Police will be notified and cars will be ticketed or towed. Entrance and DismissalThe regular school day at Bridesburg School begins at 8:30a.m. and ends at 3:09p.m. Children should arrive in the school yard between 8:15a.m. and 8:30a.m. unless attending the breakfast program. The breakfast program will begin at 8:10 and end at 8:25a.m. For the safety and well being of all children, children should not be in the school yard prior to 8:15a.m. Staff will not be available to monitor students prior to this time. Students in grades 1-5 will line up in the main school yard. Kindergarten children will line up in the rear school yard outside the ”A” wing. Weather permitting, teachers will meet their lines in the school yard and escort children to their classrooms. At dismissal, teachers will escort their class lines to the school yard and line up in designated areas. For safety and security reasons, parents/guardians are requested to wait behind the painted line in the main school yard during admit and dismiss procedures. For safety reasons please enter and exit the school yard via Richmond Street gate. Do not enter or exit the school yard using the parking lot designated for staff. Please note: All children who arrive after 8:30a.m. are late and must get a late slip from the office to be admitted to class. All latenesses are recorded on the School District’s computer system. Parents will be notified of frequent lateness. Emergency Closing of SchoolsCitywide School Closings for a Full Day2. The broadcast code number of all Philadelphia public schools is 100, although most radio and television announcers will refer to the Philadelphia public schools by name. School Closings During the Day Please call 215-299-72551. If a developing storm leads to a decision to close all schools at noon, every effort will be made to broadcast the information by radio and television. 2. If the decision is made to close the schools during the afternoon, but before the regular dismissal time, every effort will be made to have the information broadcast by 1:00p.m. Please refrain from calling the school.3. Problems in a school relating to heating, plumbing, vandalism, fire, etc. may also lead to a decision to close the school during the day. School Emergency Plans for Early Closings: Please call 215-299-72551. Our school team has developed an emergency plan to be used when the school is closed for emergencies during the day. 2. An essential part of the plan is the listing of emergency contacts for every pupil on roll. 3. Every parent must provide the school with the name and phone number of the person to be contacted in the case of emergency school closings, and the place the pupil is to be housed when dismissed before the regular time. Graduation and Promotion RequirementsThe September 29, 2005 Promotion and Graduation Policy (pdf) provides information on the requirements that must be met by students to be promoted and grade 12 students to graduate. These requirements include passing major subjects and completion of a project. Supports for students, including an extended day program, will be in place to help students meet the requirements. The TerraNova and End of Grade (EOG) tests will no longer be administered as system-wide assessments. Other assessments are being administered as needed. This policy will remain in effect until a new policy is issued.

Request for Early Dismissal of Pupils
Requests by parents for the early dismissal of pupils during school hours may be made in cases of emergency. Routine medical and dental appointments, if at all possible, are to be made for after school hours. Ordinary household or personal matters involving children are also to be handed outside regular school hours. |
