It is with great pleasure and pride that I say welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at F. Amedee Bregy Elementary School. I am excited to have the opportunity to lead Bregy School again this school. The Bregy Staff has spent time this summer planning and preparing for this upcoming school year. This year at Bregy we will focus on improving academics through interventions and instruction, attendance and lateness, and our school culture/climate. Our Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 5:30 – 7:30PM. Please come out to meet Bregy’s staff, hear what great things we have planned for this year, and how you can support your child in reaching their goals.
To help prepare you for the school year, I’ve listed some reminders and updates to assist you as you shop for school clothes and get your schedules ready.
o Our schoolyard is monitored in the morning by staff beginning at 8:00am. There is no one to supervise your child before 8:00am. In good weather, all children will line up in the yard. In inclement weather, children will meet inside the auditorium – but not before 8:00 a.m.
o Please note the significant changes to the School District’s Attendance Policy: When students arrive in school after 10:00 am or leave before 1:00 pm, they will be marked half a day absent. The half-day unexcused absences will accrue to full days. The trigger for a truancy referral remains ten (10) unexcused days. The second change is that after eight (8) cumulative absences for illness, the parent must secure a doctor's note for any future absences for illness.
o Uniforms are mandatory. Bregy’s school uniform is:
· Khaki skirt or pants (no jeans)
· Maroon golf type shirt (collar with 2-3 buttons)
· Bregy T-shirt and Maroon Sweat Pants - PE Days Only
(PE Uniforms can be purchased in the main office.)
o Some important dates to remember:
1. First day for kindergarten students is Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Parents with children registered for kindergarten will be called with the date and time for their appointment with the teacher.
2. Each month a calendar will be sent home with your child informing you of any upcoming events. The back of the calendar will provide you with our lunch menu. Below are listed some important events for the next few weeks.

Important Parent Information
Bregy Elementary has established a School-wide Parental Involvement Policy that includes the school’s expectations for parental involvement.
The Bregy parent compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.
