School Improvement Support Liaison

The position of School Improvement Support Liaison is funded by the School Improvement Fund administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education in order to provide additional services to students and families of low performing Philadelphia public schools. School Improvement Support Liaisons support student attendance, achievement and attachment through strengthening parent engagement and linking students and families to a network of community resources.

School Improvement Support Liaisons promote parent and family engagement through:

  • customer service and case management, helping resolve parent concerns and link parents to internal and external resources,
  • empowering parents through education and access to information:
    • by setting up a school resource center or bulletin board
    • participating in the publication of monthly school newsletter
    • organizing monthly parent workshops
  • improving connections between parents and school
  • encouraging parent to volunteer at the school
  • and promoting opportunities for parents to influence school life and decision making.
