The School District of Philadelphia has the following school safety program implemented, or is in the process of implementing, in and around its schools, but we need your assistance to make them work.  We are urging our parents and community members to join as volunteers:

  • Safe Corridors is a collaborative effort between the District, businesses, schools and the community to provide additional supervision and safety for students as they travel to and from school. While on well-lit, high traffic corridors, students will be able to know that there are safe havens along the route and that parents and staff are traveling the corridors, ensuring their safe passage.
    • The School District has Safe Corridors for every one of its schools, but now the next step is to broaden the ranks of patrol volunteers. This is important because the more people are participating, like any neighborhood watch program, the more effective it will be. Volunteers should be vigilant, watch from home and as they travel throughout the City, work in teams, share information and report anything suspicious or out of the ordinary.
