Telephonic Interpretation

The School District of Philadelphia provides free telephonic interpretation in over 180 languages and dialects for school staff and administrators. To access this service simply call Pacific Interpreters at 1-800-264-1545. You will be asked to provide your Access Code, language needed, your name, and your department/office or school name. After a few seconds, your interpreter will be on the line!

Live Interpretation

Live interpretation is available, with advance notice, for meetings, disciplinary hearings, and District-wide parent and community events where telephonic interpretation is not sufficient. Live interpretation is provided by one of the District’s Bilingual Counseling Assistants and so is limited to the following languages: some West African languages, Albanian, Arabic, Burmese, Cantonese, French, Gujarati, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Indonesian, Khmer (Cambodian), Laotian, Malayalam, Mandarin, Nepali, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.  Please try to allow for 1 week advance notice to schedule a live interpreter.

Documents that need to be translated can include public announcements, District-wide documents, flyers, forms, and other communications intended for parents and students in addition to transcripts or immunization records for enrollment or student placement.
