OPT-OUT

 

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (P.L. No. 107-110), and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S. C. § 9528) requires schools to release “directory information,” such as name address and telephone listing to post secondary institutions and prospective employers including Armed Services, Military Recruiters, and military schools; unless a written directive that “directory information” not be released is received (opt-out).

If you wish to OPT-OUT  your student or, if you are 18+ and wish to OPT-OUT:

  1. Click on the opt-out icon below

  2. Complete the opt-out form

  3. Send the form to the school your student currently attends

You MUST complete a seperate form for each student.

You MUST send the form to your student's school office.

The opt-out form is being provided for SDP parental conveniance. The Office of Junior ROTC is not responsible for the application of OPT-OUT forms at any individual school, nor do we have any control over military recruiters. Junior ROTC neither endorses nor opposes the opt-out option as provided under the laws.
