Programs and Services

Services provided by the Office of the Inspector General to the School District of Philadelphia are independent audits, investigations, and other activities to detect or prevent fraud, waste, mismanagement and abuse of funds so that the District can better achieve its goals.  For our purposes fraud is defined as the misappropriation of assets by either theft or falsification of expenditures and/or fraudulent financial reporting. We investigate allegations of misuse of District resources and non-compliance with District policies and procedures in order to resolve these complaints.  Our work results in recommendations to improve internal control policies and procedures for the District to prevent the reoccurrence of these errors or irregularities.   Internal control policies and procedures for an entity are the methods and procedures for safeguarding assets, ensuring accurate financial reporting and efficiency in operations.  Please see our Forms page or Contact Us page in order to submit allegations.

The Office of the Inspector General has participated in training sessions to management and principals on the School District of Philadelphia’s Code of Ethics.  We are available to provide these training sessions to new employees or as a refresher course to current employees. We have also conducted training sessions on improving and following internal control policies and procedures as defined above in accordance with the School Funds Manual.  In order to schedule a training session with us for a group of District employees please contact us at 215-400-4030.
