Personal Illness Leave

Employee Health Services (EHS) is responsible for monitoring employees who are out on personal illness leave. We employ a licensed medical doctor to meet with employees and ensure that employees return to work only when they are medically fit to perform the duties of their job.

Maternity/Parental Leave

EHS handles all cases involving parental leave. We work with employees to explain their rights and options in taking time off from work during pregnancy and after child birth or adoption.

Illness in the Family Leave

For absence of employees due to such illness of a member of the immediate family; husband, wife, son, daughter, father, mother, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother is recognized as coming under the definition of the immediate family. Moreover, relationship by marriage is considered as equivalent to relationship by consanguinity. Employees may not exceed ten school days within a period of one year during the first two years of employment. Also, employees may not exceed thirty school days within a period of one year beyond the second year of employment. There shall be a deduction of one-fortieth (1/40) of the monthly salary for each working day's absence. If, however two or more members of the same family apply for leave of absence for said cause, the total absence of such persons, with partial salary shall not exceed the total days allowed (10 or 30 days depending on the employee's length of service) within a period of one year. If the absence exceeds three consecutive school days, the employee must submit SEH-3, absence cards for each two week pay period absent. The SEH-3 card must be completed by family member's physician stating the name and relationship of the person who is ill and the nature of the illness. Leaves of absence in excess of the number of days specified shall be subject to full loss of salary.

 

Approval & Filing of Health Physical Forms

Upon being hired, all employees must submit documentation of a current physical examination and tuberculosis results. EHS processes and files these records.

 

Bus Chauffeur Physicals

All bus chauffeurs and other School District employees with Commercial Drivers Licenses must have a complete physical examination before being hired and once annually.

 

Substance Abuse Screening

Bus chauffeurs, building engineers, and certain other employees are required by contract to report to EHS for annual and/or random substance abuse screenings.
