Community Meetings November 2011-February 2012 Community meetings arranged by the District over the past three months have allowed parents, students and community members to learn more about the Facilities Master Plan, ask questions and share feedback. The District conducted 17 meetings beginning on Saturday, November 19, 2011 and concluding Wednesday February 15, 2012 at Benjamin Franklin High School. In addition to the 17 planned meetings, the District also hosted additional school-based meetings to ensure parents and stakeholders were informed about the District’s recommendations. In total, the District has held 21 community meetings during this phase, engaging more than 1,110 stakeholders in the Facilities Master Plan discussion. In addition, members of the School Reform Commission were present at almost every meeting to hear concerns and comments first hand. Details on meeting dates, locations and attendance are below:

Northwest Community Meetings Roxborough High School- On Saturday November 19th, 2011 150 parents, students and community members attended the FMP Community Meeting at Roxborough High School to discuss the recommendations for the closure of Levering Elementary School, and the relocation of Amy Northwest. Martin Luther King High School- On Thursday, December 8th, 2011, 47 parents, students and community members attended the FMP Community Meeting at MLK High School to discuss the recommendations for the closure of Levering Elementary School, and the relocation of Amy Northwest. West Community Meetings
West Philadelphia High School- On Wednesday, December 7th, 2011, 71 parents, students and community members attended the FMP Community Meeting at West Philadelphia High School to discuss the recommendations for the closure of Drew Elementary School, and the grade changes at Alexander Wilson, Harrington, Comegys, Shaw Middle School, Cassidy, Gompers and Beeber. High School of the Future- On Wednesday, January 11th, 2012, 22 parents, students and community members attended the FMP Community Meeting at High School of the Future to discuss the recommendations for the West Planning area. South Central Community Meetings South Philadelphia High School- On Saturday, December 10, 2011, 65 parents, students and community members attended the FMP Community Meeting at South Philadelphia High School to discuss the recommendations for the closure of Stanton Elementary School, and the Philadelphia High School for Business. South Philadelphia High School- On Wednesday, January 18th, 2012, 54 parents, students and community members attended the FMP Community Meeting at South Philadelphia High School to discuss the recommendations for the South Central Planning area.
