Substitute Teacher NoticeThe School District of Philadelphia is no longer accepting applications for the 2012-2013 school year for Teachers. Please continue to view this website for updates on the 2013-2014 school year. The School District of Philadelphia does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, veteran status, or disability. PSERS law prohibits any individual who is receiving a PSERS pension benefit from working at the same time for The School District of Philadelphia except in extremely limited circumstances defined by law. The School District is unaware of any presently applicable exceptions. It has sufficient non-annuitant certified teachers available for per diem substitutions to fulfill its per diem teacher needs. Failure to meet PSERS requirements can result in PSERS' cessation of the annuitant's pension and the commencement of proceedings by PSERS against the annuitant to recoup pension benefits paid within the year in which the annuitant worked in a PSERS' unauthorized capacity. Therefore, no new annuitant teacher applications will be accepted presently. The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers will be notified by the School District should circumstances change in the future.
