SKILLS BOOSTER PROJECT

Description

The Skills Booster Project is sponsored by the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy and will provide an estimated $1.5 million dollars in training the School District of Philadelphia’s Supportive Service Assistants (SSA’s), Classroom Assistants, Bus Attendants, Bus Drivers, School Police, Food Service Workers, Custodial Assistants, General Cleaners, and Noon Time Aides.

Objective

The goal of the project is to boost the skills of the current SDP support staffs to enhance their marketability and to augment not only their current performance delivery but also their opportunity for future advancement.

Scope

Courses in computer literacy, reading, writing, and math will be offered at 440 North Broad Street, the School District’s Education Center and at Peirce College at 1420 Pine Street. Other partner sites could be considered if necessary.
Participant Qualifications
Due to grant stipulations, participants must be income eligible.

Registration

Registration begins Tuesday, May 18th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at 440 North Broad Street, Suite 202, Portal B. All participants must bring their School District of Philadelphia ID, a pay stub as proof of income, and proof of household income.

Hours as follows:

Tuesday – Friday: 5/18-5/21 4:00-6:00pm
Monday – Wednesday: 5/24-5/26 4:00-6:00pm
