Curriculum

The School District of Philadelphia has designed and implemented a developmentally appropriate Core Curriculum in literacy, math, science and social studies for all our preschool programs.

The Core Curriculum

  • Meets Pennsylvania State Standards for PreKindergarten
  • Defines best teaching practices
  • Includes methods and materials that respect the rich cultural heritages and diverse learning styles of all our children
  • Includes activities that connect school and home

A typical preschool classroom is divided into the following learning centers:

 Library  Dramatic Play
 Writing Blocks
 Science  Art
 Math  Music
 Computers  Puzzles & Games

Bright Futures and PreK Head Start follow school day schedules. A typical daily schedule for both programs appears below.
