Kindergarten Registration Policies

Enroll your child for Kindergarten
January 22, 2013 until May 31, 2013
 
Your child must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2013. No exceptions
 
The School District does not test for early admission to kindergarten under any circumstances.
 
 
Visit your neighborhood school. Be sure to bring the documents listed below:
 
Student's Age (One of the following is required):
  • Written proof of age must be submitted with application.
    • Acceptable proof of age
    • Official birth certificate; baptismal certificate; a passport of a foreign born student, Other documentary evidence (adoption papers, court placement records, hospital records, institutional home records, social service agency records or alien number, I-94 number.
  • Up-to-date Immunization Records.
  •  Any 6-year-old child, who did not attend kindergarten, may attend kindergarten instead of 1st grade, at the written request of the parent(s).
  • For 1st grade, children must reach the compulsory school age of six on or before September 1.

Parent/Legal Guardianship Identification (One of the following is required):

  • Current Drivers License/ Non-Drivers license.
  • Valid Federal, State or Municipal employment photo identification.
  • Passport

Residency (Two of the following is required):

  • The child must be registered in the neighborhood school even if the child will not attend the neighborhood school due to special needs, disability, transfer, or extenuating circumstances.
  • The child must live in the same neighborhood as the school where they apply.
  • Written proof of residency must accompany the application.
  • Acceptable proof of residency
    •  Current utility bill (PECO, PGW, water), current voter's registration, original rental agreement/ leases (Must be typed, signed by all parties and notarized), deed, residency affidavit signed by homeowner/tenant or landlord and notarized, current credit card bill, property tax bill, vehicle registration, driver's license and DOT identification card.

Students Living with a Resident Adult other than a Parent (Parental Delegation)

  •  A child living with a district resident, who is supporting the child without personal compensation (gratis), the child may attend public school of that resident's school area.  The school shall require the resident to file only one of the following:
  • Completed Residency Affidavit form (S-483, Rev. 2/11)
  • Appropriate legal documentation to show dependency or guardianship, may include the order.
It is suggested that you contact the school to obtain hours for registration.
 
Parents will register their child for kindergarten in the neighborhood school. A parent wishing to enroll a child in a kindergarten other than the neighborhood school must complete an EH-36 request between September 19, 2012-November 30, 2012 for the following school year. The EH-36 must be completed at the neighborhood school.
