Our Vision
The Office of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (OCIA) facilitates the development of a system of great schools, ensuring that all students leave our schools college and career ready. OCIA ensures success for all students by developing and implementing a high quality standards-based curriculum and identifying consistent and rigorous outcomes for all students.
Our Mission
The Office of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (OCIA) works with all members of the school community - assistant superintendents, central offices, principals, teachers, families, and stakeholders - to ensure that every student graduates college and career ready. We realize/actualize this vision as outlined in the District’s Strategic Plan by:
- implementing instructional best practices,
- effectively integrating technology tools,
- supporting teams of teachers at every school to work collaboratively on aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment,
- developing and delivering professional learning opportunities for administrators and teachers,
- focusing on differentiated instruction, academic rigor, and the use of data to provide appropriate interventions and accelerated opportunities, and
- building the capacity of teacher leaders so they are able to effectively support the teachers in their schools.
