About Us

Our Vision

The Office of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development (OCIP) serves as a guiding partner with assistant superintendents, all central offices, principals, teachers, families and communities to increase achievement and close the achievement gap for all students by providing systemic opportunities for teaching and learning. All departments within OCIP work collaboratively to realize this mission across all content areas. Our common focus is to develop and sustain both Professional Learning Communities and Standards Driven Instruction. In line with the District’s Strategic Plan,we work to facilitate:

  • The use of instructional best practices that will guide teaching and learning and provide targeted support for teachers;
  • A focus on differentiated instruction, academic rigor, and the use of data to inform instruction to provide teachers the support they need to teach the core curricula;
  • The creation of teams of teachers at every school to work collaboratively on aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment to improve student achievement;
  • A focus on the efforts of teacher leaders as they work with our schools

Our Mission:

To buid a system of great schools by implementing research-based curriculum and best instructional practices in all schools to ensure that effective teaching and learning happens for every student, every day.
