The Law and Public Safety Program consists of highly motivated students who want to contribute to the community and mature into good citizens with high expectations of themselves and those around them. The Law and Public Safety Program offers such activities as: employer panels, field trips, employment opportunities and collaborative projects where our students learn about careers in the fields of Law and Public Safety.
Law and Public Safety
The Law and Public Safety Program prepares individuals to perform the duties of police and public security officers, including patrol and investigative activities, traffic control, crowd control and public relations, witness interviewing, evidence collection and management, basic crime prevention methods, weapon and equipment operation and maintenance, report preparation and other routine law enforcement responsibilities.
Fire Training Academy
The Fire Training Academy Program will provide training for students interested in pursuing careers in public safety. The three year program was developed jointly by the School District of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Firefighter Training Department and Community College of Philadelphia.
One of the immediate needs of the program is to provide a pool of quality applicants for the Firefighter Training field. The program will recruit and train up to four hundred Philadelphia public high school students each year. The F.T.A. will not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, or national origin.
