The Goals of the Health Cluster is to provide students with career awareness, exploration, post-secondary and healthcare industry pipelines. Students can earn industry-recognized certifications, foundational knowledge and technical skills that are transferrable in any healthcare profession such as communication, teamwork, safety, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology. Additionally, students receive 1080 hours of academically rigorous career specific instructions with integrated math, sciences and technology, reading, writing and listening, and career and work academic standards. Industry experiences and work-based learning opportunities are offered through our many partnerships with hospitals, dental and medical offices, nursing homes, health worker unions and other healthcare institutions.
Programs offered are Child Care, Dental Assisting, Health Professions and Related Clinical Sciences, Health Information Management and Medical Assisting. Every student will become CPR/First Aid/ AED certified. Students can also earn Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.), Child Development Association (CDA), Dental Assistant and Medical Assistant Certifications. Currently, the following schools have one or more Health Cluster Programs of Study, (POS): Audenried, Bartram, Bok AVTS, Edison, Franklin Learning Center, Kensington Culinary, Lincoln, Mastbaum AVTS, Overbrook, Paul Robeson, Randolph Career Academy, Sayre, Swenson Arts and Technology, and Vaux High Schools.
