PSTV

PSTV is responsible for all filming, production and editing for the District’s television station.  This component also develops public service campaigns and special productions and provides video documentation and audio/visual support of public meetings and presentation.

 

PSTV is the Public Educational Channel for the School District of Philadelphia. PSTV broadcasts 24 hours a day and aims to produce informative and instructional programs for students, parents and the community.

SRC Meetings

The regular meetings of the School Reform Commission are held for general purposes on Thursdays once a month, at 5:30 PM. 

 

The School Reform Commission also holds a Strategy, Policy and Priority Meeting once a month on Mondays at 6:00 PM.

 

Both meetings are conducted in the Auditorium of the School District Education Center, 2nd floor, 440 N. Broad Street and streamed live on Comcast Channel 52, Verizon Fios Channel 20 and online at http://www.philasd.org/stream/Check the PSTV programming schedule for airdates and time, or watch the meetings streaming below.

Science of Philadelphia

The series combines science experiments with hip hop music, and features guest DJs and rap musicians, to popularize science and make it more exciting to learn and study.

Special Programming

2013 Lindback Teacher Award Winners video-  Fifty-nine teachers were honored at the sixth annual Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award ceremony on May 7, 2013.  The honorees were nominated by their colleagues and students, and endorsed by their principals for this prestigious award.

 

Mozart Requiem at CAPA -The MOZART Requiem performance features the entire CAPA Vocal Music Department and Orchestra, and was taped by CAPA's own cinematography students.

 

2013 Lindback Principal Award Winners video- Seven outstanding School District of Philadelphia principals will be honored with the Lindback Distinguished Principal Leadership Award in April 2013.  The Philadelphia-based Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation created the award in 2011 to recognize School District principals for their educational leadership and public service.  Each principal will receive a $15,000 stipend, which is to be used to improve the school and community.  To watch the awards ceremony, please click here.

 

Scripps National Spelling Bee and 5th Grade Spelldown 2013- The Scripps National Spelling Bee is the nation’s largest and longest-running educational promotion, administered on a non-for-profit basis by the E.W. Scripps Company and local spelling bee sponsors. 

 

 

Champions of Caring Award Ceremony- Champions of Caring is a non-profit organization dedicated to sensitizing, educating, and empowering young people to take active roles in improving their communities. Through community and school-based programs, the organization helps to reduce prejudice, encourage service, and promote positive community change.  At the end of each year, the Champions of Caring host an award ceremony to honor student volunteers.

 

2012 Regional Talent Center Talent ShowStudents from Northwest and South Philadelphia came together of Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Prince Theater for the Regional Talent Centers’ End of the Year Combined Showcase. Students presented a free night of music, dance, visual arts, and theater.

Jazz Fest 2012 - On Monday April 23, 2012 the School District of Philadelphia hosted the 14th Annual High School Jazz Fest at High School of the Future.  Students from 8 schools performed.

 

High School All City Music Fest On Monday, March 5, 2012 in the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall, the School District of Philadelphia hosted the annual “All Philadelphia High School Music Festival.”  Over 400 students participated.

 

Middle School All City Music Fest - The annual “All Philadelphia Middle School Music Festival” occurred on May 10, 2012, at Girard Academic Music Program (GAMP).  Over 200 students from 50 middle and K-8 schools throughout the city showcased their musical talent. 

 

Public League Cheerleading Championships- On Saturday, February 25th, cheerleading squads from across the city competed to win the Public League Cheerleading Championships.
