Eligibility standards for NAIA

An entering freshman student must be a graduate of an accredited high school or be accepted as a regular student in good standing as defined by the enrolling institution.

  1. An entering freshman student must meet two of the three entry level requirements:
  • A minimum score of 18 on the Enhanced ACT or 860 on the SAT (for tests taken on or after April 1, 1995).

NOTE: In order to meet the requirement of Article V, Section C, item 2, paragraph a above, an entering freshman taking the SAT as of March 1, 2005 must achieve a score of 860 or higher on the Critical Reading and Math sections.

  • An overall high school grade point average of 2.000 or higher on a 4.000 scale.
  • Graduate in the upper half of the student's high school graduating class.

Registering with the NCAA Clearinghouse:

If you are looking to compete in athletics at a division 1 or division 2 college or  university as a freshman you must register with the clearinghouse (eligibility center) You cannot take an “Official visit” if you have not registered with the clearinghouse. You cannot accept an athletic scholarship if you haven’t registered. NOT REGISTERED=NOT PLAYING

How to register:

  • Go online to  www.ncaa.org
    • click on link for prospective student athletes

    • click on “US Students register here “ tab

    • fill in the information requested

    • You must also fill out the amateurism questionnaire also

  • You must have your high school transcript submitted to the NCAA Clearinghouse.
  • You must also have your SAT/ACT scores sent DIRECTLY to the NCAA Clearinghouse.
  • When you register for the SAT/ACT put in code o 9999 to have your scores sent directly to NCAA Clearinghouse.

When to register:

  • If you are being actively recruited by a division 1 or division 2 university, you  SHOULD register at the end of your junior year.

 *** Your eligibility will not be finalized until your final transcript is submitted to the NCAA Clearinghouse upon graduation
