Advanced Placement Courses

In order for a course to be labeled "Advanced Placement," the course syllabus  must be submitted and authorized by the College Board Organization.

Every student who takes an Advanced Placement course is required to take the AP exam for that course. The cost of the exam(s) will be covered by the District.

Dual Enrollment

There are a number of Dual Enrollment opportunities throughout the District, but only one that the Pennsylvania Department of Education underwrites. The Office of High School Reform is the SDP's designated office that manages the PDE Dual Enrollment grant. The Office of High School Reform has contracts with colleges and universities. All District high schools receive the electronic course catalogs each semester. School-based Dual Enrollment point persons and counselors are responsible to assist students in applying on-line. Successful completion of the college level course(s) are applied to the student's GPA.

If schools, parents or universities make arrangements outside of the Office of High School Reform, those parties are completely responsible for funding their arrangement. Success in the course(s) are not applied to the student's GPA.
