Long Range Planning

Long Range Planning

The purpose of a Long Range Facilities Master Plan (LRFMP) is to give the ability to intelligently plan future projects and financial spending. The first step is accomplished through optimization of the types, method, storage, and evaluation of data.

The data comes from five major areas:

  • Capital / Design and Construction
  • Facilities / Operating
  • Demographics / Enrollment
  • Technology
  • Education Adequacy

The results derived from the analysis of these data sources is then used by stakeholders and decision makers to generate a LRP that meets the needs of the District, but at the same time takes into consideration the resources available to address those needs.

The LRFMP is usually a 5 year look at where we are going, but at the same time it is continually updated to allow for adjustments based on current District conditions.

A Long Range Facilities Master Plan focuses on the physical aspect of the District; ensuring that the capacity matches the enrollment, that schools are safe and have the facilities necessary to administer the programs offered, that the buildings are in good repair, and construction is planned for the areas most in need.  When coupled with the District’s Educational Plan, a Rightsizing Plan is generated which takes into account all aspects of the School District.
