Guidelines of Educational Equity

  • High Expectations for All Students: The message that all students will succeed at their current level and in future placements.

  • Depth of Knowledge Levels and Standards for All Students: Content and performance standards that are coordinated with national and state standards and modified to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

  • Equitable Access to All Aspects of the School Program: Equitable access to least restrictive environment, school and Small Learning Community (SLC) programs, high quality work-based learning experiences, and extra curricular activities.

  • Teaching and Learning that Successfully Addresses Each Student's Needs: Daily classroom experiences that are standards driven and engaging; curriculum embedded assessment to determine subgroup and individual needs; accommodations for students with disabilities and English Language Learners; supports for students who are not succeeding in the academic program; enrichment for students who are performing above level.

  • Professional Development: For personnel at all levels of the District, heightened awareness of and sensitivity to equity issues on behalf of all students.

  • Public Review of Data: Provision of student achievement data in concise, user-friendly formats that include disaggregated data for groups of historically underserved students.

  • Parental and Community Involvement: Inclusion of the voices and perspectives of parents and communities from across the District in the decision making processes of the schools and the District.
